Beatrice Humane Society to help six puppies ‘left for dead’ in dog food bag
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A slew of puppies were rescued Sunday after they were found abandoned in a dumpster.
The Beatrice Humane Society said 10 puppies were “left for dead” in a dog food bag at an apartment complex in another state.
Four of the dogs died by the time they were found.
The other six were taken to a foster home, which is keeping the puppies warm and fed until they are transferred to the Beatrice Humane Society on Friday.
“These one-day-old guys are already feeling the love they deserved from the beginning,” the humane society said in a Facebook post.
The rescue is asking for donations to help care for the puppies. You can donate HERE.
“This won’t be inexpensive, but giving these six helpless babies a voice and a chance will be worth it,” the rescue said.
Law enforcement is investigating the “unacceptable cruelty,” and a suspect has been identified, officials said.
The rescue is also in the process of getting the mother of the pups into its care.
