Beatrice softball walks-off Hastings, wins first state title since 2003

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Beatrice softball team took home the gold Monday night, taking down Hastings 1-0 of the Class B state championship game at Connie Claussen Field in Omaha.
Sophomore outfielder Tatum Tempelmeyer played the hero, as her single to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning walked it off for the Lady O and gave them their first state championship since 2003.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Beatrice’s Layla Boyko pitched all eight innings while only giving up five hits and fanning eight.
Freshman pitcher Ella Tinsman only allowed three hits for the Tigers and struck out 15 batters in seven and two-thirds innings.
Tempelmeyer had her one hit, while Sadie Hereth led the Lady O from the plate, going 2-for-3.
Makenzie Nollette, Emily Kratzer, Grayce Beck, Pyper Witte and Madi Wenzl each tallied a hit for the Tigers.
