Below average temperatures continue this week
After our streak of 90°+ days came to an end last week, we’ve started a new streak of below average temperatures.
That is set to continue through the end of August and into early September. Each day this week toward the weekend will be about 5-10° cooler than average temperatures at this time of the year that are around 85° in Lincoln.
After a refreshing morning in the 50s again, we’ll warm up just a little more this Tuesday afternoon. High temperatures will be closer to 80° with a mix of clouds and sun.
Winds will still be light again out of the south-southwest throughout the day, with more of a breeze expected by Wednesday. Southerly winds could be gusting around 20-25 mph for a change tomorrow.
Any chance for rain in the near future doesn’t look like much. We’ll have small chances almost every day this week, but the better chances of the week may hold off until Sunday.
In the meantime, we are now only TWO days away for the Husker football season opener in Kansas City. Nebraska will be facing Cincinnati at Arrowhead Stadium with a kickoff time at 8 p.m. Thursday night (August 28, 2025).
Rain and storms still largely look to stay south of Kansas City in the morning on Thursday, yet cloud cover will still work to keep temperatures in the low to mid 70s during the afternoon for tailgating.
By kickoff, temperatures under mostly cloudy skies will be close to about 70°. Winds will remain light out of the east through the game.
Temperatures will drop fairly slowly through the game, with the end of the game temperatures still around the middle 60s.
