Bennet Fire and Rescue seeks volunteers not ‘afraid to get their hands dirty’

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Bennet Fire and Rescue is one of many rural departments looking for volunteer firefighters.

It needs people who can help on the day shift, as there are currently only a handful of volunteers available during the day.

The department is adding an ambulance next year, so it also needs people with medical experience.

Fire Chief Tim Norris said the ideal candidate is someone who isn’t “afraid to get their hands dirty.”

“You’re going to be touching things and moving equipment,” he said. “You don’t have to be the strongest person, but someone who can listen, someone can learn, someone wants adventure.”

Norris said that if you want to give back to your community, this is an opportunity “you won’t regret.”

To apply, you can go to Bennet Fire’s website.
