Bennington bulldozes Pius X in first-ever matchup

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Thunderbolts’ first-ever matchup against the Badgers did not go their way.

Pius X hosted Bennington on Friday.  The Bolts ended up dropping the game 35-0.

After a few back-and-forth drives, Bennington struck first on a 45-yard touchdown toss from Trey Bird to K.J. Taffa, making it 7-0.

The Thunderbolts tried to answer.

Kolbe Volkmer made a 24-yard throw to Nate Schauer, and the Bolts’ home crowd cheered loudly as they continued to battle through penalties.

Pius X eventually made it to the red zone, but Volkmer’s pass was tipped and then intercepted by Kyler Lauridsen to finish out the first quarter.

The Badgers ran home with the game the next three quarters, leaving Lincoln with a W.

Next week, Bennington, which remains undefeated, will face Elkhorn at home.

Pius X travels to Crete for a week five matchup against the Cardinals.
