Bicycle club hits the Lincoln trails and stops for cold dessert in the heat
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Great Plains Bicycling Club hosted a bike ride with a cold treat on Saturday.
With weather a little cooler, bicyclists were able to get out and enjoy the outdoors on Saturday afternoon.
The club gathered a group to start their ride near the Lincoln Children’s Zoo.
The bikers pedaled over to Dairy Queen on 16th Street and Old Cheney Road to stop for some ice cream before heading back to their starting point.
It’s about a four-mile ride each way on the Rock Island Trail.
Riders of all ages were welcome, and Edie Matteson, the president of Great Plains Bicycling Club, said this is a great way to get people together.
“It’s just a nice way to meet people and a nice way to get a little exercise, get a little fresh air,” Matteson said. “It’s a lot of fun.”
The club hosts quite a few of these bike rides.
You can find their upcoming events on their website.
