LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Biden administration’s Waters of the United States rule took full legal effect in Nebraska on Monday.

The Nebraska Cattlemen said in a press release that the rule will negatively impact Nebraskans.

“As the Biden administration’s WOTUS rule takes full legal effect, cattlemen across Nebraska face the undue burden of having water features on their operations subject to federal regulation,” President Steve Hanson said.

The rule defines which bodies of water qualify for protection under the federal Clean Water Act.

The Nebraska Cattlemen’s Beef Association sued over the rule, seeking a nationwide preliminary injunction.

But a federal court in Texas denied the nationwide injunction, halting the rule only in Texas and Idaho.

The NCBA said in a press release that it would continue to fight the rule.

“Nebraska Cattlemen supports the efforts of the NCBA to fight back against unnecessary federal government overreach impacting Nebraska’s beef cattle producers,” Hanson said.
