Bird flu reported in two backyard poultry flocks in Nebraska, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Department of Agriculture reported the state’s first cases of bird flu in 2025 on Thursday.
In a press release, the state said the highly pathogenic avian influenza was discovered in a backyard poultry flock in Kearney County.
Another case of bird flu was reported in a backyard poultry flock in Nance County, according to state officials.

In December, five bird flu cases were reported in Nemaha, Dodge, Sarpy, Lancaster and Johnson counties.
