Bittersweet ending for Lincoln bakery after six decades of business

It’s the end of an era for one Lincoln Bakery.

After 67 years Conroy’s Family Bakery will close its doors at noon on Saturday, February 16th.

Customers started lining up out the door early Saturday morning at the bakery’s 14th and Old Cheney location waiting to get their hands on the last of the families sweet treats.

While the ending is bittersweet the owners say they’re grateful for the community’s support.

“I just want to say thank you, everybody, in Lincoln for supporting us over the years. We’ve been very blessed, so we want to thank you,” Nate Conroy, the bakeries co-owner said.

The family has talked about reopening their bakery at a different location later on, but has no time for that right now.

They said they’re grateful for all the support in recent weeks and they’re going to take some time off to enjoy it as a family.
