Blast of hot air expected early this week

Some spotty showers were seen in and around Lincoln Sunday morning, enough to get the ground wet. With those showers, we were slow to warm up today until there was a break in some of the cloud cover midday.

But despite that cloud cover seen throughout the afternoon hours of Sunday, we will clear out overnight and with the loss of daytime heating, low temperatures are expected to be similar to today’s low temperatures in the lower 60s. Normal lows around this time of year are usually around 53°, and the forecast remains several degrees above that for the next few days with hot days ahead.

Starting off the week with Monday morning, low temperatures will start in the lower 60s with some more clouds to move through the morning hours before clearing out later in the day. Winds will be calm to start out the morning, but it will become breezy during the day with gusts of up to 20 mph at times.

Through a mix of sun and clouds in the morning, enough sunshine will give us highs in the low to mid 90s again to start of the week. It will be a hot next couple of days with humidity continuing to hold steady. Dewpoints at least through Monday will stay around 70°, feeling sticky just as Sunday did.

Dma Tomorrow High

The next front looks to arrive on Wednesday, with the warmest temperatures on that day likely experienced earlier in the day as we continue to cool from Tuesday’s hot weather. There is a chance to see some rain on Wednesday earlier in the day, but the best chances for rain look to be throughout the day on Thursday and into Friday with the start of fall.

The low pressure system associated with bringing us the front is a stronger one, bringing a lot cooler temperatures behind it. We could see a 30-degree temperature drop within two days from Tuesday to Thursday of this week. After that, the rest of the 10-day outlook will be dry again but temperatures to follow in the 80s instead of the 90s.
