Bleak chances for rain likely to lead to one of Lincoln’s driest Septembers on record
We nearly doubled what total precipitation we had for the entire month with what rain we received on Tuesday. For September, Lincoln has received 0.20″ so far with about six full days left in the month.
However, those last six days look dry. If we don’t receive any more rain, this September will go down as the fourth driest on record dating back to 1887.
High pressure dominates the region today, causing nearly cloudless skies. We should warm up efficiently after dropping to some cooler temperatures in the upper 40s this morning.
That means there should be no weather impacts expected for the morning commute.
By Wednesday afternoon, highs will be on the warmer side of average in the low to mid 80s across southeast Nebraska.
The forecast looking ahead toward the end of the week will remain quiet and dry. As this pattern prevails, anticipate warmer temperatures in the middle and even upper 80s through the end of the work week and especially this weekend.
Tropical Storm Helene formed in the Caribbean Sea recently, and the remnants of that is something we’ll watch for any small chance of rain over the weekend. Those chances still look very bleak, though.
