Bluejays win as Seward and Waverly air it out in Class B slugfest
SEWARD, Neb. (KLKN) – Seward beat Waverly 35-21 on Friday night at Concordia University.
Seward started off the game with a couple of spot-on passes by quarterback Tresten Hass for big yardage and eventually a touchdown.
But the Bluejays missed the extra point.
A couple of possessions later, Hass threw another beautiful pass to receiver Jack Vyhnalek.
Seward lined up to kick the extra point but faked it and ran for the 2-point conversion, making the score 14-0 for the home team.
At the start of the second quarter, Waverly got its offense going.
Quarterback Carter McMillan connected with Kael Lade for about 50 yards, setting up the fullback dive into the end zone to put Waverly the board.
Seward rushed for a third touchdown before half, and while the game stayed close in the second half, Seward finished strong.
The Bluejays advance to 2-0 on the season.
