Blustery winds again on Wednesday
The wind has been crazy lately! Gusts were upwards of 50 mph in a few spots as of yesterday, and blustery winds are expected again for Wednesday.
Sustained winds will still be out of the northwest, greater than 20 mph throughout the day. The relief in sight will come by tonight.
Frequent gusts again will be around 35-45 mph with very high fire danger expected today throughout southeast Nebraska.
As we continue to feel the strong wind field associated with a strong surface low over the Great Lakes, far eastern Nebraska into western Iowa will experience the stronger wind gusts.
Temperatures will not warm up all that much, still below the normal temperatures for early April in the lower 60s. Highs across southeast Nebraska will be near the low to mid 50s.
This dry period will last through almost the first part of the weekend. Then with another system deepening on Saturday, very strong winds are expected on that day with thunderstorms possible that evening. The Storm Prediction Center has a severe risk into south central and southeast Nebraska with that potential. Beware of this with weekend plans coming up.
Almost daily rain chances will start with that, too, with the best window of dry weather expected on Monday for the solar eclipse.
