Blustery winds incoming for a few days
After a washout Monday, many saw widespread amounts of 1-1.5″ of rainfall. Rainfall totals really dropped off from central Nebraska west.
Lincoln was one of many locations across the state to set a new daily rainfall record for November 18th. We shattered the old record of 0.68″ in 1948 by over one inch!
Monday was the 2nd highest 1-day rainfall total this year in Lincoln. The only other day that we saw more rain this year was the memorable July 1st, when we saw some flooding after receiving over four inches.
The system that brought us rain yesterday will still have a grip on us in the coming days, producing strong winds both Tuesday and Wednesday.
Northern Nebraska can expect wind gusts around 30-45 mph especially Tuesday morning and afternoon.
The strongest wind gusts in southeast Nebraska will be around 30-35 mph especially by mid-morning.
Peak winds out of the northwest in the coming days will be highest on Wednesday. Then winds will start to back down the rest of the week.
Statewide, wind gusts will be around 40-50 mph especially by late Wednesday morning. The strongest wind gusts will felt in north-central Nebraska.
These winds are going to continue to drag cooler air down from the north, so temperatures will drop the rest of the week. Our coldest day looking at the end of the work week will be Thursday in the lower 40s.
Right now, signals keep a dry pattern through most of next week into Thanksgiving. We’ll be keeping an eye on small chances around the holiday – both before and after.
