Boat catches fire at Branched Oak Lake northwest of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A boat caught fire Thursday morning at Branched Oak Lake in northern Lancaster County.
A crew from the Raymond Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Branched Oak Lake Marina around 11 a.m.
According to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, a 35-year-old man was the lone occupant of the 2001 Baja motorboat.
Officials said the man tried to put out the flames with two fire extinguishers after the boat was having mechanical issues.
The man was uninjured and declined medical attention at the scene, according to officials.
A Channel 8 reporter at the scene saw smoke and flames coming from the boat in the lake.
The boat, valued at $31,500, is a total loss and was recovered by a towing company.
