Stove fire at Lincoln home caused $16,000 worth of damage

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue says Tuesday’s stove fire caused $16,000 worth of damage to a Lincoln home.

The house itself will cost $15,000 to repair, while damage to contents added another $1,000 to the bill.

Officials also say four people were in the home when this blaze broke out.

One of them was using the garden hose to fight the flames as crews arrived.

LFR said cooking is the No. 1 cause of house fires.

It’s reminding everyone to never leave food unattended while it’s being cooked.

And regularly clean surfaces to prevent grease from building up.
