The fire, which started around 8:20 a.m. and was put out soon after.
Officials say the school was evacuated and the students were taken to nearby Immanuel Lutheran Church.
No injuries were reported.
LFR says the fire started in a trash can in a mechanical room but LFR doesn’t know how it was started.
Officials say there were PVC pipes nearby that were touched by the fire creating a large amount of black smoke.
Lincoln Public Schools sent out a letter alerting parents that read:
Saratoga families,
I want to first let you know that everyone at Saratoga is safe. There was a mechanical issue at our school early this morning, and responders were called. We have evacuated everyone to our designated relocation site away from the school. All students and staff are accounted for and are inside our alternative site. We will remain here until the fire and health departments make sure our school building is clear and safe for everyone to enter.
There is nothing you need to do at this moment. Please know your child is safe and being attended to by staff.
We will let you know more information when it is available.
If there is an emergency and you need to contact someone at the school, please call (402)436-1610.
