Lincoln radio personality Matt McKay charged with felony strangulation

UPDATE: According to Lincoln Police, Matthew Rydberg, also known as Matt McKay on 106.3 KFRX, is out on bond.
Rydberg was arrested Sunday morning and charged with felony strangulation.
At his initial appearance in court, the judge ordered Rydberg to have no contact whatsoever with anyone at his home.
A popular Lincoln radio personality was charged with felony strangulation Monday.
Matthew Rydberg, 41, better known as Matt McKay, the host of Matt McKay Mornings on 106.3 KFRX, was arrested on the charge Sunday.
According to court documents, Rydberg cut off breathing to his wife by grabbing her throat. He was arrested around 2:30 a.m. at his home. Rydberg was reportedly drunk.
The incident was reportedly witnessed by two minors.
A judge set his bond at $25,000 after Rydberg’s attorney argued his client had a “very limited” criminal history and was not a flight risk.
The charge carries penalties of up to three years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.
