Home in Firth a complete loss after fire

UPDATE:

Multiple crews are still on scene of a house fire south of Firth.

The fire was reported near S 82nd and E Gage Road. That’s just south of Firth in Gage County. The fire happened around 5:30 Tuesday night.

Officials say the three occupants of the house were able to get out safely.

Investigators say the fire may have started in the back of the house. When firefighters arrived, the home was engulfed in flames. Crews faced a challenge reaching the fire due to an inclined driveway that was covered with snow and ice.

Fire and rescue crews from Cortland, Hickman, and Adams were called in for backup.

The home is a complete loss. There are no damage estimates at this time. The owner told Channel 8 Eyewitness News that the home is only 5 years old.
