Update: Fatal crash victim identified

A Lincoln man is dead following a single-vehicle accident in Northwest Lincoln Saturday night.
According to Lincoln Police just before 7 p.m. Saturday night Andrew O’Brien, a 37-year-old male driver, was seen traveling at a high rate of speed through the intersection of West Fletcher and Purple Heart Highway.
O’Brien veered right over the curb on Purple Heart Highway before correcting and continuing through the West Fletcher intersection.
LPD said he then continued on West Fletcher before driving off into a field and striking a tree head on.
Officers arrived at the scene and found him unconscious with severe injuries.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue transported him to Bryan West where he was pronounced dead.
It is not known if alcohol or drugs are a factor in the crash.
The incident is still under investigation.
