BREAKING: Woman dead, another critically injured after accident on Westbound I-80

A woman is dead and her passenger is in critical condition after a single vehicle accident on westbound I-80 early Sunday morning.

According to Lincoln Police the woman was driving westbound on I-80 just west of I-180 just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning when she struck the median guard rail, then lost control, and went down the north embankment. 

LPD says the woman died as a result of the accident. The passenger was critically injured and was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical but stable condition. 

The identity of the woman killed has not yet been released.

Officers are still investigating and we’ll have more details as they become available.
