Breezy but quiet weekend; heavy rain with storms Monday

Friday morning starts with a stillness being observed statewide: light winds are calm in many locations with 20s and 30s for temperatures early.

The winds will pick up especially during the afternoon hours today, gusting up to 25-30 mph out of the southeast.

Day Planner With High Pivot

It’ll be a mild day with perhaps some high-level clouds occasionally, but more clouds will move in late tonight. That’ll hamper the view of the full November moon if you want to see it, so get out earlier in the evening before more clouds roll in.

This full moon will be the last supermoon of 2024. A supermoon is when the moon is full and at its closest position to Earth in its orbit.

Full Moon Forecast

The Husker contest in southern California will be a beautiful football game, the weather somewhat similar to what we’ll have here at home. The couple differences will be the lighter winds in California and the later sunset around 4:48 p.m. PST (which would be about 6:48 p.m. CST locally).

Huskers Away Game Hourly 3 Panel

We’ll experience another breezy day with gusts on Saturday up to 30-35 mph out of the south.

Temperatures will remain very mild for this time of the year until a weak cold front Saturday night into Sunday morning brings temperatures back to the middle 50s Sunday afternoon. Winds will be much lighter by then.

Weekend Forecast Cities

Though Monday looks to break the cycle of quieter days. Signals are leaning more toward a “washout” kind of day, with thunderstorms bringing heavy rain possible especially Monday afternoon. Severe weather should not be an issue.

This system lifts northeast out of Texas to be here by Monday, clearing out late Monday night.

Monday Stormcast

Widespread rain around 1-1.25″ looks possible for many in eastern Nebraska from Monday’s storm system.

Precipitation Any Model 2

After that, Tuesday looks to be relatively quiet. But the end of the week we’re still closely watching for weather impacts. The most recent indication in models has been less of a chance for winter precipitation, with small chances Wednesday and potentially Thursday to see much of anything.

Again, those details will become clearer by early next week – so check back with us for updates in the coming days.
