Breezy, mild moving into early February this weekend
Rain has just about wrapped up, exiting lastly far southeast Nebraska Friday morning.
This system had a similar feel to the snowstorm earlier in the month, leaving a lot of precipitation for mainly Falls City and surrounding areas closer to Kansas and Missouri.
If this rain had fallen as snow, Falls City would have had another 15″ or so.
Stronger northwest winds this morning will leave us feeling colder for the morning hours today.
As winds relax this afternoon, mild temperatures warming to about 50 will feel better. Temperatures will be quite warm for the last day in January in western Nebraska.
South winds pick up again by mid-morning on Saturday, gusting up to 35 mph through the afternoon for a windy day. Cloudy conditions will also return.
While we warm to about 60 on Sunday, a band of snow looks to develop across northern Nebraska by the afternoon. That band will travel across northern Nebraska through early Monday.
If this area manages to see snow, some of northern Nebraska could see up to 0.5″ from this.
As we turn the calendar to February this weekend, this is our first month where average temperatures start warming up from beginning to end.
The sun will rise earlier, closer to 7 a.m. by February 28th. And sunset will happen after 6 p.m.!
Last year, we also had very warm weather in the low to mid 60s the first two days of February. But after Sunday, we’ll cool down with temperatures closer to normal (mid to upper 30s) by the middle of next week.
