Broken windows and graffiti reported at Nebraska GOP’s Lincoln office

A newspaper carrier discovered the vandalism at 3 A.M. this morning.
Bricks were thrown through a window and graffiti was sprayed on the sidewalk outside the Nebraska Republican Party’s office in downtown Lincoln.
Officials say the cost will be more than a thousand dollars to repair.
Leaders from both sides of the political aisle are saying enough is enough.
"In 2018, we need to dial it down. Whether it is Republicans, Democrats, Independents, we cannot accept this," said NEGOP Executive Director Kenny Zoeller.
In addition to the broken window, the words "Abolish ICE" was spray painted on the sidewalk.
It’s a reference to U.S. Immigration and Customs enforcement, a hot topic in today’s political climate.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time someone has vandalized the downtown office space.
Someone spray painted the word "Resist" on the same office windows back in December.
U.S. Senator Deb Fischer’s hay market office was also vandalized in late 2017.
And someone left signs containing profanity and political statements on congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s home last Christmas.
"When political parties cannot function and cannot have a window on the outskirt in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska without worrying about it being broken into, without worrying about it being vandalized, then something is not right," said Zoeller.
Officials say nothing was stolen from inside the office building.
Police are investigating the incident as an act of vandalism, and motivations are not known at this time.
As a response, security cameras will be installed on the front and back side of the building over the next few days.
"We’re bigger than this, we’re better than this. We can take care of this, we can clean it up, and we can move forward but political dialogue, and I mean real dialogue, not violence, is an important part of what our country is," said J.L Spray, Former Chairman of the NEGOP.
The Nebraska Democratic Party has released a statement in response, it said quote:
"Our workplaces and homes are meant to be safe places where we pursue our goals and dreams. We condemn the violence and vandalism that happened at the Nebraska Republican Party."
Lincoln police is looking for witnesses or video surveillance to help in their search.
They say they are also looking into whether or not any of the previous vandalism incidents are connected.
