Bruce the Bear visits Lincoln Public Libraries

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Eiseley Branch Library welcomed a surprise guest to their weekly family story time Sunday.
Bruce the Bear from the Mother Bruce series joined families to meet children and distribute honey treats after a special story time and craft activity.
“Story times and other book programs are wonderful opportunities for families to come and read books together,” Courtney Schnabel, library service associate at the branch, said. “Kids hearing stories, it helps get them ready to read. If they’re younger, even seeing someone read a book to them starts developing those literacy skills. They start learning how books work and how stories work.”
Lincoln Public Libraries usually welcomes character guests to their story times about once a year.
However, next month they are planning on a visit from the Very Hungry Caterpillar to learn about caterpillars and butterflies. There’s a even rumor that families might get to take home a cocoon of their own.
