LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A bison snuck out of his pen on Tuesday and caused some worry in rural Merrick County.

The Merrick County Sheriff’s Office found a wandering bison near Highway 92 and 12th Road.

Deputies worried the bison could get in the way of traffic and were eager to get him home.

The sheriff’s office posted a photo on Facebook, looking for the owner, who reached out after a few minutes.

The owner, along with a group of community members, joined deputies at the scene and brought the bison home.
