UPDATE: Buffalo Wings and Rings holding benefit for Jessica Brandon

UPDATE:
On Friday, the Buffalo Wings and Rings near 70th and O streets is held a fundraiser for Jessica Brandon.
From 4 p.m. until midnight, 20 percent of sales went to Jessica’s family.
There was a good sized crowd earlier in the evening and some of Jessica’s family members said they’re amazed by the support.
"It’s unbelievable," said Jessica’s mother, Molly Goodyear. "It’s just overwhelming. Everybody loved Jessica. She tried her hardest to make sure that everybody was happy and I know she was a great waitress. She loved working here."
General manager Michael Barton said Jessica was part of their crew when the location opened last November. He said this is a good way to give back to her family because she was a great employee and was always positive.
"She always has a smile on her face and it’s always about other people with her," Barton said. "We always heard about all about her events her kids were in and her grandkids."
And folks said they’re happy that they’re helping the cause by simply enjoying some food and drink.
"I didn’t know that this was going on tonight, but I think it’s great that the community’s helping out in such as way," said Kenneth Curtin of Lincoln. "It feels really great to help contribute. I heard about it and, yeah it feels awesome. I’m glad they’re doing this."
And so is Jessica’s family.
"I know Jessica is smiling down right now," Goodyear said.
As of 9:45 p.m. Friday, they said they raised $1,500 for Jessica’s family.
There have been no arrests in Jessica’s murder so far.
