Calvin Jones, a 1990s Husker football standout, found dead at Omaha home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A former Nebraska football star was found dead Wednesday at a home in Omaha, police say.

About 8:30 p.m., firefighters were investigating a gas odor near 38th and Hamilton streets.

They found 54-year-old Calvin Jones dead in the basement, according to a police report.

Jones was an I-back for the Huskers from 1991 to 1993.

The police report suggests that Jones may have been dead for a few days.

It does not say what caused his death.

In his Husker career, Jones racked up more than 3,000 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns.

He was inducted in the Nebraska Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
