Case advances against Lincoln man in homicide outside Russ’s Market

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 22-year-old Lincoln man will stand trial in a fatal shooting in a grocery store parking lot.

On Tuesday, Judge Timothy Phillips found probable cause to try Ge’Auvieon Crayton on a charge of first-degree murder and sent his case to district court.

The shooting happened late the night of July 5 outside Russ’s Market at South Coddington Avenue and West A Street.

Crayton and 20-year-old Kaeylab Gonzales were meeting with 25-year-old Francisco Alvis to buy marijuana, according to court documents.

But police said the deal went south, and Crayton and Gonzalez shot Alvis, who later died at a hospital.

Gonzales is also charged with first-degree murder in the case. He is due back in court Oct. 31.

Crayton is scheduled to be arraigned in Lancaster County District Court on Nov. 20.
