Case Sanderson’s walk-off homer lifts Nebraska baseball over Michigan

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska baseball team took the series from Michigan Saturday, beating the Wolverines 5-2 in walk-off fashion at Haymarket Park.

Case Sanderson drilled a first-pitch, 3-run walk-off home run into the parking lot beyond right field to give the Huskers the win.

Nebraska (26-25, 13-13) tallied six hits as a team and only left three runners on base, while Michigan (31-19, 14-12) had five hits and left five runners on base.

Sanderson led the Huskers with a 2-for-3 showing from the plate and three RBIs. Riley Silva also had two hits, while Hogan Helligso hit a 2-run homer.

Ty Horn threw six innings, allowing 2 runs on four hits with four punch-outs and a pair of walks.

Will Walsh pitched 2.1 innings in relief and retired all seven batters faced while recording three strikeouts.

Luke Broderick improved to 3-2 on the year after recording two outs in the top of the ninth inning.

With the win, Nebraska is now above .500 for the first time since February.

The Huskers and the Wolverines will conclude their series on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Haymarket Park.
