Cases in McDonald’s E. coli outbreak top 100; two more reported in Nebraska
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Federal officials announced 14 new E. coli cases linked to McDonald’s on Wednesday, including two in Nebraska.
That brings the total number of infections to 104 nationwide and 13 in Nebraska, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Cornhusker State ranks third in the number of illnesses, after Colorado and Montana.
The Quarter Pounder onions that caused the outbreak are off the shelf, so the CDC said there’s no ongoing risk to the public.
But the agency is keeping its investigation open to look into illnesses that occurred while contaminated burgers were sold.
Two Nebraskans who got sick have sued McDonald’s over the outbreak.
