Nationwide, the final tally of cases was 104. Thirty-four people were hospitalized, and one person died.
Colorado had the most illnesses, with 30, followed by Montana with 19 and Nebraska with 13.
The outbreak began in September, according to the CDC, but wasn’t discovered until October.
Officials traced the E. coli to the onions used on the McDonald’s Quarter Pounder.
Those onions were recalled, and for a time, McDonald’s stopped serving Quarter Pounders altogether at some stores.
At least two Nebraskans who fell ill have sued the fast-food giant.
