CenterPointe calls for donations of winter clothing
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – CenterPointe started its annual coat drive on Nov. 1, and donations are starting to pick up.
The behavioral health provider served over 300 unsheltered people last year but was only able to give out about 50 to 100 coats.
Each person who receives a coat appreciates the community’s support and donations.
“A lot of them are really thankful and grateful for it,” said Breanna Werger, CenterPointe’s crisis response team lead. “Sometimes they really don’t have anything except maybe a T-shirt or a pair of jeans.”
The nonprofit will take any size but is specifically looking for adult coats.
It’s also looking for scarves, hats, gloves, socks and any other winter clothing.
If you have items you want to donate, you can drop them off at the front desk at the location at 13th and South streets from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The drive goes until Dec. 31.
