Championship history: Milford and Lincoln North Star each win first state title

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) —It was a historic day for two schools at Pinnacle Bank Arena Saturday afternoon.
Both Milford, and Lincoln North Star Girls Basketball secured their first state championships in program history.
Milford tipped off vs. Malcolm just before noon, where it was an instant classic. The Eagles and Clippers entered the championship with a combined record of 54-2.
Right out of the gate shots were falling. There were seven total three pointers made in just the first quarter. They finished with a combined 17 made three’s.
Malcolm led by one at the half, 29-28.
But, Milford entered the fourth quarter leading by two, 49-47.
Then, the Eagles got a lot of stops when they needed, holding the Clippers to just single digits the final quarter, outscoring them 17-5.
Milford won their first state championship, defeating Malcolm 66-52.
The Eagles had four different starters all reach double figures, with senior Ashlynn Miller leading the way with 17 points.
Sophomore Shayla Rautenberg recorded 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Eagles have now made the Class C1 title game in back-to-back years, where they finished as runner up in 2025.
Soon after Milford cut down the nets, the Class A title game tipped off between Lincoln North Star and Omaha North.
It was a slow start to the game, where the Navigators shot 3-14 from the field in the first quarter.
But, they turned it on in the second quarter to lead by five points at halftime, 23-18.
Senior Ani Leu finished with a game high 20 points, and Kendall Anderson connected on four three pointers, scoring 14 points.
Lincoln North Star outscored the Omaha North Vikings 28-17 in the second half, cruising to a 51-35 victory.
This is now Lincoln North Star’s first ever state championship in any team sport history.
