Channel 8’s winter coat drive with the People’s City Mission is underway

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Channel 8’s second annual winter coat drive with the People’s City Mission is underway on Thursday.
Stop by the station until 6 p.m. to donate new or gently used coats.
More than 500 coats donated in less than 2.5 hours!

You can also meet some familiar faces like Rod Fowler, Sophia Pollman, Rusty Dawkins and Nate Johnson.
As of 11:45 a.m., over 1,400 coats and other assorted winter clothing items have been donated.
Pastor Tom Barber, the CEO of the People’s City Mission, said warm clothing is a necessity when the temperatures begin to drop.
He estimates that the People’s City Mission goes through about 5,000 to 10,000 coats annually between its shelter and help center.
