Chelsea Johnson wins Lancaster County Board seat; another race still up in the air

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Election Commission finished counting early ballots on Friday.

The latest batch of results settled one local race, but another is still too close to call.

Democrat Chelsea Johnson won the District 4 seat on the Lancaster County Board, defeating Republican David Russell by 3,369 votes.

She will replace Republican Roma Amundson.

In District 2, the result is not yet clear.

Democratic incumbent Christa Yoakum is leading Republican Jeremy Kuehn by 596 votes.

There are still 3,706 provisional and resolution ballots left to be counted. It’s not known how many are from District 2.

The remaining ballots will be tabulated next Friday.
