Three-year-old August loves to play just like other kids his age, but August can’t walk which makes playing much more difficult for him. Just in time for Christmas, the team at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals Lincoln Campus gave him a new ride.

No, not a sleigh; a car. It’s a special moment for his parents.

“This car is going to be life-changing for August. He’s going to have an opportunity that he wouldn’t have had otherwise. The organizations, the team that came together to build this did a great job,” Trevor Boyd, August’s dad, said.

Trevor said the new car will teach him to be more independent and play on his own.

“He doesn’t get many opportunities to play by himself independently so this is providing that for him,” Boyd said.

For the Madonna team, August’s car is the first of many more they hope to give out in the future.

“We have two more that we’re getting out the door here before Christmas. Then we plan to hit it hard in January and make that reveal maybe a quarterly thing,” Dr. Chase Pfeifer of Madonna said.

Although August isn’t like other little boys his age he is not letting that stop him from exploring the world around him.
