LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Thinking of Husker tailgates one might get the idea of parking lots filled with grills and drinks, but that’s not always the case as one Lincoln organization has a tailgate aimed at younger audiences.

The Lincoln Children’s Museum opened its doors for another season of Game Day Play Dates which coincides with each home football game.

With exhibits and activities aimed at children ages, 5 to 12 some parents find this opportunity to be a blessing in disguise.

From 90 minutes before kick off to 60 minutes after the end of each game, both parents and their children are given the chance to enjoy their Saturday game day the way they would like to.

Dustin Durio a play date parent said that it works out for all parties involved.

“Our daughters love coming here,” he said. “They learn a lot of stuff while they’re here and they have a blast.”

Durio said that he’s brought his kids before and both he and his wife agree that it’s an efficient way to celebrate the game day.

“This is about the fourth or fifth time we’ve brought them here and they always tell us about it when we pick them up,” Durio said.

The kids won’t leave hungry either as meal options are provided for children for an extra $5.50 with each registration.

More information on prices and future play date dates can be found here.

The next Game Day Play Date is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 10 with check in starting at 5 p.m.
