Children’s Nebraska patients dance for hours at UNL to raise money for hospital
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Huskerthon event raised thousands of dollars for Children’s Nebraska on Saturday.
Hundreds of University of Nebraska-Lincoln students gathered for an eight-hour long day of fun with current and former patients of Children’s.
The University of Nebraska Dance Marathon hosts several families for dancing, games and celebration to raise awareness and money for the hospital.
Luke Woosley, a UNL student involved with the event, said his family has a special tie to Huskerthon, as his little brother has battled cancer.
“I think we have 27 families or something like that this year, and you get to change each one of those kids’ lives in some small way,” he said. “I think being involved with something meaningful – and not only that, having my family on top of that – makes it all the sweeter.”
At the end of the event, the total amount of money raised was $83,702.24.
All of the money is being donated to Children’s Nebraska.
