Chilly start Friday morning before rain returns for the evening
It took a while but skies finally cleared throughout Nebraska Thursday afternoon. Skies will remain mainly clear for Thursday night for most of southeast Nebraska before clouds return Friday.
Clear skies tonight and a light wind will allow for it to be cold by early April standards. Low temperatures will be in the middle 20°s.
Clouds will quickly be on the increase Friday morning, turning skies overcast by afternoon. Even with the clouds temperatures should still be able to warm to the lower and middle 60°s. Winds will increase out of the south-southeast – sustained 5 to 15 mph with gusts to 28 mph.
Light scattered showers will begin to develop in central Nebraska by late morning and move eastward, reaching the Kearney, Grand Island, and Hastings by early afternoon. Rain chances increase further east by late afternoon and evening. The rain should also increase in coverage area by evening and in to Friday night. Keep that in mind if you have dinner plans!
Rain will move out of southeast Nebraska by early Saturday morning and the first half of the weekend should remain dry. A quick moving weather system will dive southeast through Nebraska Sunday bringing a chance for rain to the state. At this time, the best chance for rain should remain over northeast Nebraska but stay tuned to forecasts if you have outdoor plans Sunday.
