Chilly this weekend with flurries possible

Early morning shopping this Black Friday will be bitterly cold with some single digit wind chills in areas surrounding Lincoln. Add the extra layers before heading out!

And frost had formed overnight from clear skies and calm winds. There may be a layer on the windshield if the car sat outside.

Temperatures will fall to the teens with a mix of sun and clouds through the morning hours.

Canada clearly forgot to shut the door after Thanksgiving, as wind chills were around 20-25 below zero up in North Dakota.

That colder air will produce a chilly weekend by the time it moves into Nebraska, but thankfully wind chills won’t be that bad as what they’ve already seen up north early Friday morning.

Highs on Friday will remain in the 30s again for another day. Winds will remain north and shift somewhat out of the south for a time, less than 10 mph.

Passing cloud cover will still bring the possibility of some stray flurries again today.

Over in Iowa City for the football game tonight, temperatures will start in the lower 20s by kickoff. But most of that game will have temperatures in the teens and potential single-digit wind chills, making for the coldest game of the season.

Flurries will be possible Saturday morning, but no travel impacts are expected nor much accumulation. More sunshine is expected for the second half of Saturday and on Sunday with highs hovering around freezing.

Through Saturday afternoon, any snow accumulations across eastern Nebraska shouldn’t be much more than a dusting. Keep in mind there could be some slick spots for Saturday morning errands.
