Cigarette fire caused $70,000 in damage to west Lincoln trailer home, LFR says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A discarded cigarette sparked a fire Sunday that caused $70,000 in damage to a trailer home in west Lincoln.

Around 4 p.m., several Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews were sent to the home near Third and Adams streets.

Battalion Chief Jim Bopp said the fire started on the deck and made its way inside the home.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said Tuesday that the flames caused $50,000 in damage to the structure and another $20,000 to the contents.

The trailer is uninhabitable, Lierman said.  The family has since been relocated by the Red Cross.
