Cigarette sparks Lincoln house fire, causes $250,000 in damage, LFR says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A house fire that was sparked by a discarded cigarette on Saturday caused $250,000 in damage, Lincoln Fire & Rescue says.
When crews arrived at the single-story house near 31st Street and Old Cheney Road around 10:30 p.m., heavy fire was coming from the back deck.
LFR spokeswoman Nancy Crist said strong winds accelerated the fire, causing it to spread into the home’s attic.
Nobody was injured, but Crist said two people and a dog were relocated.
