LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Wastewater Division of the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department contained and stopped a wastewater overflow.

Early Friday morning, crews were called to a manhole near Ox Bow Circle and North 33rd Street following a report of leaking fluid.

According to officials, an instrumentation failure at a nearby lift station prevented the pump from operating, allowing wastewater to back up in the sanitary sewer collection system and release into a portion of Salt Creek.

Crews immediately addressed the affected area, and the faulty instrument is being replaced.

Officials said normal lift station operations have resumed.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department has been notified about the event.
