City hears feedback on renderings of new Lincoln Haymarket skatepark

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – City officials revealed initial renderings Tuesday of a new skatepark coming to the Haymarket.

The skatepark is part of a larger $25 million South Haymarket Park project near Seventh and L streets.

At an open house, skaters got a first look at what the park might look like.

Phil Burcher, president of the Lincoln Skatepark Association, said he’s excited to see the progress made so far.

“I’m coming from a place in the past where nobody cared about any of this, we couldn’t get anybody to even listen to us,” Burcher said. “Now, not only are they listening to us, but they’re really curious what we have to say, and they really see and understand the benefits of what a skate park can do for a community.”

The designs aren’t final, but officials said the meeting was a good chance to hear feedback on the project.

The city plans to complete the park by 2026.
