City of Bennet ends water emergency but keeps some restrictions

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Bennet on Friday canceled a citywide water emergency two days after it went into effect.

Just after 2:45 p.m., the city posted on Facebook saying it was able to lift the restrictions on lawn watering.

On Wednesday, the city issued an alert due to the Lancaster Rural Water District experiencing pumping problems.

Residents of the city were urged to shut off their sprinkler systems and eliminate all unnecessary water usage.

Some watering restrictions are still in place.

Odd-number addresses can water lawns on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, while even-number addresses can water lawns on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

No watering is allowed on Mondays.

“We urge residents to please follow this schedule,” the city said in a Facebook post. “We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
