LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department announced on Friday that two debris collection sites are now closed.

Holmes Lake Park and Seng Park will no longer be accepting debris from the storms that swept through the city on July 31.

Forestry and Parks crews are clearing debris from the two parks in preparation for various fall activities, parks and rec said in a press release.

Officials said residents should avoid those debris collection sites as there will be an increase in construction and forestry vehicles in the area.

Three debris collection sites will still be open through August 19:

  • Star City Shores
  • South lot at Woods Park
  • Oak Lake Park

The Parks Department is also offering free wood-chip mulch on a first-come, first-serve basis at three locations across the city:

  • Bowling Lake Park parking lot
  • Fleming Fields parking lot
  • Holmes Lake Park, parking lot 5
