City of Lincoln opens additional storm debris drop-off sites
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Lincoln on Monday announced the opening of five additional storm debris drop-off sites.
The following sites will accept storm debris for no charge through Aug. 24:
- Woods Park, 31st and J streets – Site is in the J Street parking lot
- Van Dorn Park, Ninth and Van Dorn streets – Site is in the main parking lot off High Street. Debris must be deposited on the east side of the lot only
- Oak Lake Park, First and Charleston streets – Site is in the main parking lot
- Seng Park at University Place, North 48th and Francis streets – Site is in the ballfield lot of North 49th and Francis streets
- Bowling Lake Park, Northwest 48th and Cuming streets – site is in the parking lot on the north side of the lake of NW 48th Street
- Star City Shores, 4375 S. 33rd Court – Site is in the parking lot east of the pool
All sites will accept wood debris only from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Residents are reminded that downed trees and power lines may be addressed in the following ways:
- For trees blocking city streets or sidewalks, contact the Lincoln Police Department non-emergency number, 402-441-6000.
- For public trees between the curb and sidewalk, contact the Parks and Recreation Community Forestry Section at 402-441-7847, ext. 0.
- Residents can also report damage to public trees at UPLNK.lincoln.ne.gov or by using the UPLNK app.
- Tree debris on private property is the responsibility of the property owner. For tree debris on private properties, residents can use the sites mentioned above, contact their refuse haulers, or take the debris to the North 48th Street Transfer Station, 5101 N. 48th St. Hours are 6:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and 6:45 a.m. to noon Sundays. Regular disposal charges and fees apply. To avoid an extra charge, residents must cover and secure their loads. For more information, visit lincoln.ne.gov/Landfill.
- Branches and limbs should not be combined with yard waste. Refuse haulers ask that branches and limbs no longer than 4 feet long be bundled and placed next to refuse containers.
