LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird gave an update Monday on the city’s progress in developing more affordable housing.

The city plans to develop 5,000 affordable rental units by 2030. It is ahead of schedule, with 2,147 of those units built so far.

There are also many properties being rehabbed for affordable housing.

Property owners will receive $15,000 per unit from the city to improve the quality of affordable rentals.
