State, local officials form group to work on new Lincoln convention center
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A new group composed of state and city officials will select the location for a downtown Lincoln convention center.
At a press conference Tuesday, the group – Assemble Lincoln – announced the next steps for the downtown convention center project.
The group’s members include Lancaster County Board member Sean Flowerday and State Sen. Anna Wishart.
“A new convention center will be a welcome addition to our thriving downtown that is busting with concerts, college sports, restaurants, bars and local shops,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said in a press release.
Officials said the next phase of the project will be the issuance of the Request For Letters of Interest for possible convention center locations.
In previous phases, a study identified five possible sites in the downtown area.
More information on the project can be found on Assemble Lincoln’s website.
